I have also lived in poverty, never received help from the Govt and was able to work my way out of it.

That was Ben, then along came Johnson and the Great Society, The start of the end of the US. Over 7 trillion dollars pissed away on stupid wasted social programs. And we are no further ahead now then we were back then. Man are these sheep herders ever good.
Yup. It was your guy who started all this **** with the Patriot act. Obama is no better though. So yeah, stop this divisive bullshit and let's start fighting the real enemy, corporate influence in our politics and politicians who are reluctant to relinquish any power they've claimed for themselves. After we do that we can keep fighting with each other because at least a politics will be honest.... ok, at least they'll be more honest. The assumptions you make. They're really kind of cute. There are plenty of people willing to defend the 2nd amendment, but how many people in govt. have spoken out against the Patriot act? Almost none, certainly not the same amount that are opposing any additional regulation of firearms. Political correctness is not mandated by any kind of governmental authority, it's more or less social pressure to not be a ********, or at least keep it under wraps if you are one. So yeah, not a law. Hate speech isn't law either, otherwise the Westboro Baptist Church would be in cells. Unreasonable search and seizure is the ENTIRE issue with the Patriot act. Focusing on the TSA is complaining about stubbing your toe when someone just cut off your arm.
Post WWII and into the 60s, poverty was getting rarer year by year, especially among minorities. In particular it had become an almost exclusively transient condition. Almost no one you could find in poverty was STILL in poverty just several months later. "We" decided to take steps expected and predicted to put an end to this. Leading Democrats who wrote the "Great Society" programs SAID their expectation was to entrench a permanent underclass - ESPECIALLY AMONG MINORITIES - who would be dependent on "help" from D.C. for generations at a time. As LBJ himself put it, the goal was to keep "those (sparing Y!A the censoring) voting Democrat for the next 200 years."
THAT, according to Obama, is what finally made America great.
