Why don't people here seem to know or understand...?

Where's the fun in that?

II myself do not accept the notion that God cannot be proved. I do that by looking all around me outside the world of man and see his wonder daily. The scriptures are replete with ancient writers saying the same thing.
Psalm 19:1: “The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.”
What great deeds are done by His hands.
Mark 6:2
Shout joyfully to God...How awesome are your works.
Psalm 66:1,3
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord
Psalm 150:6
The unbelieving mind refuses to accept God who made all things.
Romans 9:20
Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
One ancient writer expressed how animals understand things that humans do not.
Isaiah 1:3
The ox knoweth his owner, and the donkey his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.
You see? Even the scriptures confirm the condition that exists in Yahoo Answers.
This appears to be a good expression on its face so that the debate doesn't go overboard either way. But for the believer and for the atheist. There is the notion of truth. Truth does matter. And it is this struggle for truth that is at the basis for all the unsettlement and unease in this forum.
At least, this is the way I see it.

You're right that God cannot be disproven, but you're wrong that God cannot be proven.
God could INDEED be proven. All He'd have to do is show Himself. And if He is truly omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent, it should be very easy for Him to do so. Not to mention, if He truly cares about us, His children, He wouldn't keep hiding from us. He would show Himself so that ALL could believe, not just the gullible among us.
And to those who say that for God to show Himself to us, that would take away our free will, I say, what is free will but the opportunity to see ALL the information and make an informed decision? How am I supposed to have free will when all the people who claim God exists demonstrate they have no idea what they're talking about? There's a lot of skepticism, and their only answer to it is that God cannot be proven, we just have to believe.
That's a cop-out. If God truly existed, his existence MUST be provable. The fact that Christians haven't been able to do that, despite 2,000 years of trying, is itself compelling evidence that God does NOT exist.
I have no problem with God, if He exists. My problem is with those who claim to speak for Him. Because they're doing a really lousy job.

Your assertion is irrelevant. I mean, who cares? We all must decide whether we believe in god or unicorns or leprechauns or Bigfoot or Thor or the FSM. We evaluate each claim on evidence and arguments we have available because we must at some point make a decision. Ultimately, even if an argument cannot prove with 100% certainty that unicorns do not exist, I can reasonably make a conclusion that they do not base on that argument.
Just because an argument does not prove with 100% certainty the truth of its assertion does not make it invalid. It makes it just another piece of the puzzle you use to decide whether to believe or not.

I am not sure I know what the question is but, I'll do my best t answer what I think you are asking. The riddle of God, or as I call the highest of all - Creator, is a riddle that will not be answered in words; Every man must find the answer for him/herself. The more one defends their thoughts, others live to tear them down. Walking a path of love and holding God in the heart is a single path one must walk themself. Creator/God exists in my reality: I know because, so many woundrous events have happened for me which allows me to continue beliving. But, every church will have a different truth of what God is and, should be. I have to leave now but, I may come back and extrapolate my meanings better for you, if you desire it? Be brave and walk you own path - that is the only path you can walk, really!
