Laser printers aren't really meant for home use, and they don't pay off unless you are printing 100+ documents a month. Toner cartridges for small laser printers average about $40 to $80 a piece, but yield about 2000-5000 pages. Compared to Inkjet $30-$50 each at 500-1500 pages. The problem though is in low yield use of a toner cartridge. Some toners can become clumpy, and the imaging drum may degrade over time if you aren't using it much. You might spend $60 on a toner cartridge and its no good a year later even though you haven't used it up. It uses an HP 78A cartridge that is very common, and you can get remanufactured cartridges fairly cheaply for it. Prints about 2000 pages per cartridge
