What causes seeing double images?

Sometimes when I don't get enough sleep, I see double images, even with one eye closed.

Is this a known problem?

I don't think this is astigmatism because it's corrected by a good night's sleep. I wondered whether it was possible for it to be brain related but had never heard of anything like it before.

I first noticed it when looking at an LED digital clock. There were two sharply visible times, one directly above the other. When I tilt my head to the right, the top line shifts to the right. Kinda weird.

there are many causes for double vision. Some are to do with the eye and others to do with teh brain. You really need to go and have this checked otu by a doctor. It is unusual to get double vision with only one eye open.

I have double vision without my glasses, but corrected to 20/20 with glasses. The cause, very common, is astigmatism, millions have it, easily fixed with glasses, contacts or Lasik.

Maybe you have it also?
