Ok i am just getting into hockey and here's my question, They play like 82 games a year. How often are they played. if they were played once a week that'd be over 1 year to play. Do they play everyday? every second day? Also when does the season usually start and end. Thanks!

What Laser said is correct, but to add on to that their scedule is determined by a number of things including but not limited to: Travel, prior events sceduled at areans, other teams sceduels, as well as if it is an olympic year, or when the allstar break...Teams don't play every other day, the often play back to back games, or can have a couple day break. There is no uniform set of days of rest like football and it's not every day like baseball.
You could play like this : Have A game Sat afternoon, Sunday night...Have mon, tues, wed off, Play thursday, Friday off play Sat... have sunday and monday off, Play Tuesday
They play for roughly 6 months. Their schedule differs a lot. Sometimes they'll play 3 games in 4 days (two games in a row, one day break and then one more game). And all teams usually have a couple of road trips a year, where they often have to play many games in few nights, with traveling everyday. After road trips they usually have 2-3-4 days of break and then they'll go again. So all in all about 3 games a week. And then a Christmas break of about 4-5 days.
The season is October 7th to April 6th which is roughly 182 days which means the on average the play a game every 2.2 days per week (so it would like Week: 1: 3 game Week 2: 3 games Week 3: 4 games)
