Tailbone Injuries? How long will it last?

About 2 weeks ago I got thrown from my horse pretty hard. When I stood up my tailbone was hurting but the next day it stopped hurting. I waited a week then went back to riding. Since then, the pain has been awful. I can;t walk without pain and I can't sit or stand from a sitting position without pain. I've tried Ice and Ibeprophen and I haven't ridden in a week. But I need to start getting my horse back in shape because in 2 weeks I'll be going on a 3 day horse camping trip and that means 10+ hours a day in the saddle. What can I do to make it feel better when I ride and even when I'm not riding, and how long will the pain last?

It also hurts when I cough, sneeze or blow my nose. It feels like how a bruise would feel if you press on it

I barely tapped my tailbone last year and it hurt me really bad for about 2 weeks, and it still was sore for more than a month. It still hurts if i sit the wrong way on it as well, and it has been almost a year!!

Sorry! Not good news from me either. My tailbone injury took months to heal. I finally went to GP and got a cortisone shot. It worked. But I do NOT recommend it. It is really painful!! Long needle and I could literally hear the needle scraping my tailbone as they injected it!! EEEEWWWWWWW!!!!! That was probably over 35 years ago and I still remember it quite clearly. Sorry dude! You can alternate ice and heat - 20 min. with each for about an hour - a couple of times a day. And when you sit.... use a doughnut shaped pillow with the middle cut out. or one of those neck pillows - shaped like a U.

I was a distance runner in track and one day during gym during the season my senior (last) year I cracked my tailbone and It hurt for a long time.I couldn't sit and when running I thought I was gonna die. The reason I say this is because there is nothing you or doctors can do for a broke or cracked tailbone. And if you took a fall from a horse I'm going to say you broke it. I'm not sure tho. Good luck.

It may never heal correctly it could last a life time seriously. I ingereied my tail bone 13 years ago I still get sore if I sit wrong or to long or on a heard chair.
