How to fix priming problem?

I have got a new rc nitro car and have had it about a week and it will no longer prime correctly, when I put my thumb over the exhaust and pull the starter no fuel goes through the pipes, what can I do to fix this?

Put thumb over INTAKE port on carb, not exhaust pipe.
