Why do people have children? I mean REALLY, what is their (your) true motivation for having them?

I am not talking about why they might think they have them, but what the true underlying motives are.

Yeah, my boyfriend doesn't want children and I must admit, I can't argue with his reasoning.

I guess I want children because I am sure they'll be wonderful, and I am not all that much of a benefit to society, but I bet my kids will be. Plus it'll make my family proud if I get married and make some babies, it's what grown-ups do.

Of course, it's only natural, all things that live on earth do so to breed.
