Being wicked goes beyond doing evil and rebelling against God.
Wickedness is innate in all man/woman from the fall of Adam and Eve.
Being wicked is a desire, a thought and an imagination of the heart.
Genesis 6:5 (Modern King James Version)
And Jehovah saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
You can be kind and remain wicked, you can be charitable and remain wicked and you can accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and remain wicked. Does this mean, if you accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior you are not free from sin?
No, it just means that being wicked goes beyond doing evil and rebelling against God.
Allow me to attempt to explain.
You can be a pastor of a Mega-Church and preach messages that turn many hearts to the Lord and still remain wicked, and in the end loss your soul.
Matthew 7:21-23 (King James Version)
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior does not mean you are save!
However this is what is being tought all around the world by all denominations.
Receiving Jesus as Lord and Savior is the beginning of Wisdom.
Psalms 111:10 (Modern King James Version)
The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; all practicing them have good understanding; His praise stands forever.
The very next verse in the passage above on Matthew, Jesus said:
Matthew 7:24 (MKJV)
Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on a rock.
This is the same as the latter part in Psalms 111:10 "all practicing them have good understanding"
Wickedness is any motivation, imagination even asparation (a strong desire to achieve something high or great) out side the commands of Jesus Christ.
Many of Jesus disciples wanted the same thing as we want today to be great in the Kingdom of God but Jesus said:
Matthew 18:1-5 (MKJV)
At that hour the disciples came to Jesus, saying, Who is the greater in the kingdom of Heaven? And Jesus called a little child to Him and set him in their midst, and said, Truly I say to you, Unless you are converted and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of Heaven. Therefore whoever shall humble himself like this little child, this one is the greater in the kingdom of Heaven. And whoever shall receive one such little child in My name receives Me.
I have a two year old and I see she can do many things incorrect in my eyes and I do my best to correct her, however her greatest desire is to be with mom and dad, and even with her sisters. I cannot put it into words but she just lights up when she sees anyone of us.
I believe it is the same with someone who loves Jesus Christ, you can mess up here and there but your greatest desire is to be with Jesus Christ. Jesus said if you love me you will obey my commands.
John 14:15 (MKJV)
If you love Me, keep My commandments.
How can we follow Jesus Commands with a correct understanding?
How if we are naturally wicked? How if our every imagination is continuely evil?
God has promised all who believe in Him that they will be filled with His Spirit and He will Comfort us as long as we obey Him, not man's understanding but His revelation of the Word.
Source(s): John 14:16-31 (MKJV) And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, so that He may be with you forever, the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive because it does not see Him nor know Him. But you know Him, for He dwells with you and shall be in you. I will not leave you orphans. I will come to you. Yet a little while and the world does not see Me any more. But you see Me. Because I live, you shall live also. At that day you shall know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. He who has My commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves Me. And he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will reveal Myself to him. Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, Lord, how is it that You will reveal Yourself to us and not to the world? Jesus answered and said to him, If a man loves Me, he will keep My Word. And My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My Words, and the Word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father's who sent Me. I have spoken these things to you, being present with you. But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatever I have said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. You have heard how I said to you, I go away and I am coming to you again. If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said, I go to the Father, for My Father is greater than I. And now I have told you before it happens, so that when it happens you might believe. I shall no longer speak many things with you, for the ruler of this world comes, and he has nothing in Me. But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father has given Me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go away from here. - lostnsavdLv 71 decade ago
Dear Friend,
Matthew 13:49 says, "So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,"
This word "wicked" in the Greek means Poneros: 4190 ponhrovß Poneros (pon-ay-ros');
Word Origin: Greek, Adjective
from a derivative of (4192)
bad, of a bad nature or condition
in a physical sense: diseased or blind
in an ethical sense: evil wicked, bad
Notice it says, "bad nature or condition." Sin fits this category and we are all born with the disease of ...SIN. Only Jesus Christ, the Great Physician can remove this sin by His shed blood and our surrender from our will, to His will...by agreeing with Him that we are sinners and we need a Savior (Jesus) to set us free from sin which results in ...death. Permanent separation from our Creator for eternity in Hell where there is wailing and gnashing of teeth.

No. They are only words, and are often very useful. That said, some words I find very offensive when used against a person, such as 'stupid, spastic, retard, n*gger (and other words used as a racial slur), f@g' and so on. I'd rather hear someone use f*ck (the most flexible word in the english language) as every 2nd word, rather than anything that is personally derogatory or hateful. This is the kind of language people should detest - not curising and swearing.

Wicked is choosing to HONOR your own needs at the expense of someone Else's well being, or ignoring the effect your action has on the lives of others.
God offers the chance to repent and repair the wrongs done to others .

FROG E, you making up word root definitions now? It has nothing to do with furniture, at ALL.
wicked, root: Middle English, alteration of wicke, ultimately from Old English wicca, sorcerer.
It's a pejorative term left over from the time when roman christianity took over Great Britain and forced all the pagans (aka, witches) to convert or die.

He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. (1 John 3:8, see 1 John 3:6-9)
We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. (1 John 5:18)

a wicked person is a person who is against God. God says your either for or against him, you can't be on the fence. So anyone who doesn't believe in God is wicked.
God says that the people who don't believe in him will go to hell after they die.

Wicked comes from the word "wicker" which means twisted......We are considered wicked when we twist the word of God.

"So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, and shall cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth". - Jesus (Matt. 13:49)
God bless...good question.

The most wicked thing is when you try to turn devout Pagans away from their true Gods and Goddesses, by preaching at them the false monotheistic doctrine of the "one god."
