Cruisers performance is so low that they are in the same category as scooters, dual sport and 250cc sport bikes performance wise. If you are riding your 1600 cc cruiser with open exhaust and a 650 Suzuki Burgman scooter blows past you and you know you can't catch him, does that annoy you?

I rode an 883 across the country, it took a good part of a week, it annoyed the hell out of me that everyone could cruise a lot faster than what I was traveling. An 883 can cruise with fast traffic alright but you have to be angry with it cause it feels and sounds like its going to chuck a rod.

I travel a lot and in general cruisers travel slower than traffic. Even with my Civic with a trailer behind loaded with lumber I end up passing cruisers. Also loaded highway tractor/trailer units and passenger buses are passing long lines of cruisers.
Jonathan 30k is nothing for a motorcycle, I have about 50k on mine and I still consider it barely broke in.
Comparing all cruisers to one of the weakest on the market shows a distinct lack of knowledge on the subject, squid. I have had all types of bikes, from dual sports, to zx6r's, bmw k1200s and harley fatboy, vrod, sportster, and electra glide. Sport bikes are good at ONE thing, going around a track fast. Cruisers are good at MANY things, like bar hopping, touring, day trips, cross country rides, etc... It is all about what you like to ride, and judging others based on their choice of ride is childish and pointless. Congratulations on taking a cross country trip on your sportster, many riders do not have that opportunity. It is not a good representation of modern cruisers, or mile eating highway machines. A better example would have been a heritage softail, electra glide, or street glide from harley, or a victory kingpin, vision, or cross country tour. Even a honda vtx1300 or 1800 would have been a better choice.
Performance is not just speed, squid. My 06 victory kingpin is faster than almost all cars on the road, gets 43mpg, and after 31k hard ridden miles still runs like the day it was new. How many sport bikes can withstand 30k hard miles without a rebuild or engine swap?
Nope not a bit.My bike will run 120 mph. That's plenty fast for me.I got over the adolescent need to ride everywhere like my hair was on fire years ago.I could care less what you or anyone else thinks about what i ride.I will say you and a few others need to put down what people ride makes you look like an idiot. You really should try growing up a bit.
When God (or the gods) invented motorcycles they gave mankind a choice- cruise and let the world cruise with you or ride something else. (that's mostly Zen Buddhist). If you wish for a different interruption , the gods said, 'Pass those you need to pass on the road to Zen to relieve traffic congestion'
