Dancing at my wedding.?

The 6th of december I will get married. My wife-to-be wants me opening the evening dancing with her. I can't dance! I really don't. What is the solution for my problem?
Can I say no and leave the topic unsolved? Can I offer something else?

You really don't need to know how to dance at all. Choose a slow song, just shuffle around kissing your wife, and stand still hugging alot. People won't be noticing your feet- they will be admiring the bride's gown and clapping whenever you kiss. It is only a 2 minute interlude in the entire reception,so don't worry about it.

It's traditional that the first dance is the bride and groom.

It's usually a slow dance so there aren't too many fancy moves.

You just hold her in the dancing position and sway back and forth a little.

Or you could go take dancing lessons - many people do.

Do it secretly. Then amaze her.

You could make her reeeaaally happy and get dance lessons together; that way, she gets what she wants, and you won't be worried about how it looks. That is more money on top of what you're spending on the wedding already, but it would be memorable for her and you might learn that you enjoy dancing once you know some steps.

If your wedding will be a casual, low-key one, you don't have to have dancing at all. Sometimes lots of music/dancing doesn't fit, depending on the kind of party, so it's OK not to have any of it, including a first dance. <-- This is my preference (I'm like you - cannot dance at ALL), but it doesn't allow your future wife to have something that sounds pretty important to her.

Overall, do you think your guests will want to dance/expect it? If so, you'll already have a DJ/band anyway, so it may be worth a few lessons to make everyone happy and gain a little confidence.
