How well has the war on poverty, the war on drugs and the war on terrorism worked?

In my opinion it seems that the Central Planners haven't done a great job with their wars... What do you think?

It would seem all that has been done leads only to more oppression of the American People. For which we are suppose to express our gratitude for. A 3 pronged War on American Values.

Dear christ no! War on poverty won't change until we get rid of the Bush tax cuts. The war on drugs in the early 70s used to be a $350 million/yr waste of our money and today is a $25 billion/yr waste of our money, it hasn't stopped drugs being available, if anything they're MORE available and CHEAPER today (heroin is now 600 times cheaper than it was before the war on drugs in 1970), the war on terrorism is just the cons excuse to kill people in the middle east we're actually not doing very much about terrorism.

Politicians (and more importantly the general public) are to obsessed with immediate results. For things like the war on drugs and poverty to work you have to have a general understanding of the people they affect, and the best solutions for them.

Things like
What is a better tactic when dealing with drug abuse, prevention, rehabilitation, or punishment of offenders.

People are less interested with prevention because it doesnt show statistics while options 2 and 3 do.

Lyndon Johnson's war on poverty worked to greatly reduce poverty and suffering.

The war on drugs has not worked.

The war on terrorism has created more terrorists.

Before Social Security, 50% of our elderly – 60% of them women -- were below the poverty line. Now only 11% are. Republicans want us to return to poverty-stricken seniors.

Before Medicare, the elderly were warehoused, row upon row in ill-attended county hospital wards in urine-soaked beds. Now, thanks to Medicare, our grandparents get semi-private rooms where their every need is attended. Republicans want us to return to suffering seniors.

Before welfare and food stamps, yes we really did have Americans starving to death. Republicans want us to return to starving children, and right now 1-in-4 American children doesn't have enough food, yet Republicans refuse to help with jobs.

It's called "civilization" because we treat each other civilly. We have a collective duty to ensure a basic minimum for all. We know from history that charity, while important, can never guarantee this on its own. Tackling poverty must both support individual needs and address the wider social and economic causes, not retreat to simply blaming the poor for their own poverty.

Drugs failed, others worked.

Ob got OBL killed and Ob's drones are decimating the jihad's leaders and driving them helter skelter into the wilds of Yemen & Somalia just trying to stay alive.

Dem Pres's FDR's and LBJ's programs like Social Sec, Unemployment Ins, FDIC, the GI Bill, and Medicare and Medicaid MADE the middle class.

No, they DINT "do it on their own."
