My cat is always hungry?

He gets to eat twice a day. I'm actually feeding him more then what the directions are telling me to. He is not over weight or under weight. He is the perfect weight, for his size. He always wants to eat. He will do just about anything to eat and will eat just about anything.

 If I leave any type of food out he will eat it.If I leave the treat bag out, then he will scratch and bit the bag until he can get it open. He even got into my mom's coffee once... Pretty much to make sure he won't eat anything he is not a post to, we have to put it in the cabinets. I've never seen a cat that  does this. Not even my own dogs will do this. He is on Blue Freedom Grain  free indoor cat food.  Is there a reason why he is doing this?

Cats are greedy and clever scroungers of food by nature so this behaviour does not surprise me. If cats know that they may get a treat or extra food, they will keep trying and this may be by bugging us continually by meowing, crying, moaning & following us around etc...
The most important thing is to firstly ensure your cat is fed at set times each day only. This keeps consistency, routine and your cat will get use to this easily. Do not give in out of any of these times!! Keeping consistent is key. Only twice a day...? That does not seem much. If you are out all day, remember that your cat will be hungrier towards evening so will need more. Also, treats are a bad habit personally...cats do not need them, it does not make them better, happier or more obedient in any way so ditch those to start with. Do not leave your food out either, or certainly not within his reach. You are just asking for temptation and again, if he knows it's sometimes available, will keep scrounging too. Think you need to just check with your vets his ideal weight and food intake required. Our first cat got overweight from too much feeding and no exorcize so we swapped to better, meatier biscuits only and although more expensive,were more satisfying to actually needed less. Consistency, timing, no treats or extras, keep it up, feed a little more for evening through to night/morning. Your cat will be fine. It's natural for them to scrounge.

You should feed your cat wet food 3 or 4 times a day, and always have dry food out as a snack.

If cats have worms the worms take all nutrients out of the cat, causing the cat to always be hungry. So just a suggestion to test for worms.
