Need help solving this absolute value equation!?

Okay so here is the equation:

4 l x+2 l - 16 = 0

and it tells me to rewrite the equation in standard form and determine if there is a solution.
could someone please help me with this?
thanks :)

4 l x+2 l - 16 = 0
First you need to get the absolute value part of the equation alone on the left, and all the other values on the right. So, add 16 to both sides, then divide both sides by 4.

l x+2 l = 16/4 = 4
Now set the (x + 2) = 4 and (x + 2) = -4
Now just solve for x in both equations.

4 l x+2 l - 16 = 0
4 l x+2 l= 16
l x+2 l = 16/4
l x+2 l = 4
x = (4-2) or (-4-2)

∴ x = 2 or -6
