Hatuey was Taino - they were in Hispaniola as well as Cuba.
Last words - "[Hatuey], thinking a little, asked the religious man if Spaniards went to heaven. The religious man answered yes... The chief then said without further thought that he did not want to go there but to hell so as not to be where they were and where he would not see such cruel people. This is the name and honor that God and our faith have earned" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatuey
I don't know if the priest's name was recorded.
Las Casas reported the conversation - but as if it were a different priest actually talking to Hatuey.
I don't know the name of the priest, but I read that Hatuey was not taÃno. He arrived from Dominicana.
The priest tried to make Hatuey a Christian. Then Hatuey asked whether the Spaniards went to Heaven as well. The priest said yes. Then Hatuey said that he did not want to go any place where might be people as evil as the Spaniards
say aren't you one of the ones who are quick to say; do your own research, OR you do know that Yahoo IS a search engine OR this is a travel site. Kind of ironic don't you think
EDIT, OK, so you know the answer, still kind of ironic don't you think
