I recieve medicine from my dr. monthly to manage chronic pain. I recently had oral surgery and was written the same medication by the oral surgeon. Is this legal? Is it frowned upon? My mouth is in a good deal of pain, even with my daily meds and I am working full time without missing any.

you can't necessarily get in trouble since it's for a legitimate reason, but your insurance company, if you have one, may or may not pay for both of these medications at the same time. since it is the same medication. and if it is a CII, or Narcotic, such as oxycodone, you will not be able to get a early refill, since you already have an original medication for the same drug. if it is a pain medication, which i'm assuming it is, DO NOT drive on it. This IS illegal.

It doesn't sound illegal, you should just call your doctor up. Did you tell your oral surgeon you were on pain meds? If not, you might need to have your pain meds adjusted so that you don't overdose on the tylenol! No, not illegal, but dangerous for you to take too much acetaminophen.
You might need one single strong pain drug, rather than 2.
