Why are the New Horizons photos black and white?
The images the New Horizons probe took of the Jovian system are monochrome. This is not commented upon at all anywhere i've looked. Why is this? Will the images of Pluto also be monochrome?

The main imager on New Horizons is high-definition but monochrome. The visible wavelength images will therefore be in black and white. One of the reasons for this is the low illumination at that distance, which would make it very difficult to distinguish colours.
NH also carries infrared and ultraviolet cameras.
