Since my mom and I didnt' get along with her soon-to-be ex husband, my brother wanted us to move from PA to FL to get away from that crazy and mean man.  

So, we moved into my  brother's place that he's renting.  We live with brother, his wife, my niece & nephews.  We are Moving into a bigger house so that my mom and I will be able to have our own rooms.  

Right now, we are sleeping on the couch.  We don't really have any privacy.  Our clothes and other belongings are in the room with the washer and dryer and other items that are my brother's.

Renting a house right now, but my brother and his wife have been able to buy a house.  They are wanting us to pay some of the mortgage each month and help pay for some groceries.  Is this appropriate and right?

Yes! You all would have to pay rent anywhere else why shouldn't you pay your share at your brothers house. Do you all not eat? All right then why shouldn't you pay your share of the groceries.

Whats not right is expecting your brother and his wife to take care of both of you financially! They were really kind to allow you to move in with them but eventually the freeloading needs to stop and you all must contribute! He and his wife have their own family to take care of.
