What would cause headlights to go off, for 5 seconds, then go back on - 2005 Durango?

Nothing else goes off/out...everything on the dash is working, it's just the headlights

A loose/poor connection at the bulbs, or if you upgraded the bulbs to a higher wattage bulb, then they would try to pull more power then your vehicle's wiring harness can carry, so they over heat and shut off until they cool off..
