Games for Windows was mercilessly shut down, does that mean that I cannot play GTA IV online or save games?

Also, I just bought Dark Souls: Prepare to Die edition which is (no longer) powered by Windows Live... It says I cannot save games unless I am signed in. Is there a work around, or is Steam still selling the game truly a scam?

GFWL is still up. They shut down the marketplace but nobody used it really.

I literally just opened up Dark Souls and was able to register my CD Key from a Steam copy before answering this. The problem is on your end. Try redownloading the GFWL software or something.
