Do you know anyone who was actually offended because someone else celebrated a different holiday?

You hear about it a lot in the news, but that fuss is usually aimed at businesses or public places, not individuals in their homes. Though I know a lot of people with peculiar judgments, I can't think of anyone that actually disapproved that someone was or wasn't celebrating a specific holiday.

I don't mean religions. People fight about religion all the time. I'm specifically asking about holidays. Do you know any people that work themselves up to a tizzy because someone they know is celebrating (or not celebrating) a different holiday?

I remember people getting all bent out of shape when Obama celebrated Talk Like A Pirate Day once by saying "Arrrr.." or some such thing. And of course people who get all upset when people celebrate Halloween because somehow it is evil to go around collecting candy from each other dressed as robots or princesses or whatever.

Not personally.

What's ridiculous is the elementary school that one of my best friends student-teaches at. She told me that none of the children are allowed to celebrate ANY holiday because it might "offend" someone. How sad is that? Especially for little kids!

No, I don't. If there are people like that, they need to get off their high horse and respect the fact that people have different opinions and celebrate in different ways.
