CFL vs LED in Fan/light?

I have three ceiling fans that will not take CFL bulbs. They flicker and make noises. Does anyone know if a LED light bulb would work in a fan/light like this?

In addition, why wont the CFLs work in these fan/lights?

An Led will work fine, as to why the cfl wont work is there a dimmer on the fan lights? Cfl cannot be dimmed, are they cheapo bulbs? Without seeing the application I am just speculating. Led's Can be dimmed if they are rated for it but need a special dimmer your standard wall dimmer won't work.

If your ceiling fan has a balance problem (it wobbles when it spins) then the tiny filaments inside the CFL tube will shake then break. In a case like that use a LED bulb or fix your fan. You can fix the fan balance by adjusting the weight on the blades, I recommend taping dimes until you get the balance just right...then hot glue them in place. I still prefer CFL bulbs since they are almost as efficient as a LED bulb but about 1/5 the price.

Thumbs up JK.

Standard dimmers (including remote control dimmers) will not work with CFL OR LED.

We don't have enough info about your circuit and what you have on it so the best we can do is guess.

If you have a wall dimmer and are attempting to run the fan at lower speeds, that doesn't work either. You need a special "MOTOR SPEED CONTROL SWITCH" for that.

Hope this helps.

Happy Holidays.
