First day of college classes. A few questions.?

I am a running start student going to a community college.

1. The college is ~4 miles away from my high school, with a lot of stop lights and i only have 10 minutes to get there. How do most professors tolerate being late?

2. What are the phone policies like?

3. What should i bring on the first day?

4. How much more work is college compared to high school? Will I have to wright a lot or give presentation a lot? (im doing a business class, a history class, and a geology class)

1. Do not be late. Honestly, being late is disrespectful regardless of how the professors "tolerate" it. I have some profs who let students straggle in at any time, and others who gives quizzes right at the beginning to punish late comers. If you need more time to get to school, you'll have to leave earlier. If you're a high school student taking classes, then you can try and coordinate with your high school teachers to leave a few minutes early, or else speak directly and honestly with your professor about your circumstances.

2. Most classes just have generic phone policies (ringer on silent, don't take calls in class, put away and/or off during tests). In my anatomy lab we are not allowed to have our phone out at all because of the cadavers and personal privacy for the body donors and their family.

3. Writing utensils, a notebook for each class, and a folder to store each class syllabus in. If you have textbook questions, like if you bought the right one, go ahead and bring those as well. You won't need to use them, but sometimes it helps to just check with the teacher and make sure you have the right edition.

4. Expect more writing and less time to learn material. Most teachers also don't walk you through things like they do in high school
