First day of college classes. A few questions.?

I am a running start student going to a community college.

1. The college is ~4 miles away from my high school, with a lot of stop lights and i only have 10 minutes to get there. How do most professors tolerate being late?

2. What are the phone policies like?

3. What should i bring on the first day?

4. How much more work is college compared to high school? Will I have to wright a lot or give presentation a lot? (im doing a business class, a history class, and a geology class)

    1. Go up to your professor after the first class and tell him/her the time situation and I'm sure they will be understanding as long as you try not to be disruptive when you enter late.

    2. Since it is a classroom full of adults, it is just assumed that the students will be respectful enough to not use their phone obviously during class. Just put it on vibrate and if you HAVE to text, just do it unobtrusively

    3. Bring the textbook if you have one for your class, a notebook, a pen, and a planner (calendar)

    4. A considerable amount more work than high school. Just try to stay up to date with homework and reading and I'm sure you'll be fine. The amount of writing depends on the teacher, but just know that you are expected to be much more independent than in high school classes. Less guidance for assignments, less reminders about due dates. So just write all that stuff down in a planner and you should be good :) Also, stay organized and have a notebook/folder for each class. Good luck and have fun!
