did i almost die or get brain damage?

This happened when I was 16 so Idk why I am thinking about this now. I was in cross country at the time. I followed the cross country girls and was trying to catch up with the varsity girls. I was only 2 or 3 feet behind them and we crossed over into a main road. They made it across the street fine. When I was running across the main road two cars stopped to let me go they were about 4 or 5 feet back from me. The varsity girls made fun of me for almost getting hit and said that the cars shouldn't have to stop for me. The light has just turned green and it was a main road so the speed limit was 45 mph. What do you think?

Almost doesn't count. Move on with your life.

You have a duty of care to yourself at all times. Running across a road when the lights are against you is not exercising that duty. Nothing happened THAT time but how many times have you run across a road since when the red man is lit?
One day you won't be lucky.
