API melafix and pimafix?

My black molly recently got banged up during a filter incident, and she has some cuts and scrapes. She is still eating and swimming, but rests a lot and seems tired. I would like to be able to treat the wounds, so that they heal quicker and don't become infected. Please share some personal experiences with pimafix and melafix medication, I would like to use it, but am unsure if it's safe. Would extra aquarium salt in the water be better? TIA

Melafix and Pimafix are usually safe, except for fish with labyrinth organs as the oil in the medicine can coat this organ and kill the fish. Both are usually just antiseptic and won't help with the big things. Dosing the water is fine, but a trick I've learned is to put the medicine on a cotton swab and actually dab it onto the sight of the infection. Aquarium salt helps with their immune system I believe. So unless the fish has swim bladder disease or is constipated, there's no real harm in the salt. However I believe 7 days is the maximum amount of days that salt can be used, I believe its 1 tbs per 5 gallons. And remember, salt doesn't evaporate, and you'll have to dissolve the salt in water before putting it into the tank.
