College major transfer?

I want to study at a college thats pretty far out of my budget. I want to go there because they have a very good music program (just an example so its easier to explain). To be able to afford to go there, I want to do is study one or two years at a cheaper college and then transfer into the more expensive one. The problem is, the cheaper college does not offer a music major at all. Would that be a problem when transferring? Or could I just take all of my required courses at the cheaper school? Thanks in advance.

Most students do not have to choose a major until the end of their sophomore year in college. Thus, the cheaper college not having a music major would NOT be a problem when transferring.

At the cheaper school, try to take all of the basic, required courses like English, math, science, social studies, and so forth.
