Conservatives are against abortion, but doesn't abortion benefit them politically?

There's a higher relative percentage of Democrat leaning minorities, such as blacks, having abortions, so doesn't abortion lower the voting population of the opponents?

Because despite the ignorance and hatred the politicians love to spew, I think they actually know how abortion is really going.

A.) The states that hate abortion are also the states that often have abstinence only education. Thus these are states with high teen pregnancy rates, and a lot of abortion. Illegal abortion even.
B.) Most people who seek abortion already have children. Sometimes two or three. In fact, already having children is one of the most common sighted reasons for seeking abortion.
C.) Most abortion clinics aren't located in black neighborhoods. Thanks to 'pro-life' the ones that survive are usually in neighborhoods that are a little better off. Middle class and upper class particularly.
D.) People who identify as Christian and Catholic make up a lot of the people seeking abortion. In fact, so called pro-lifers often get abortions too. There are many accounts of so called 'pro-lifers' even having to go to the clinics they protest against.

In other words, because of their own backwards policies the people seeking abortion most are often the people who vote Republican.

Your question could be flipped around. Why are liberals in favor of abortion when having less of it would probably lead to more Democrat-leaning voters?

I've never totally understood this part of American politics, because "sanctity of human life" is usually a liberal cause, and "freedom to make my own damn choices!" is usually something that conservatives rail about. I suspect that American politics over abortion would be the other way around if abortions were a procedure administered to men, rather than to women.

Yes, but Republicans do things that are not in their best interest at the moment if they know an issue is wrong. Planned Parenthood is a eugenicist organization and Republicans oppose eugenics. The Democrats, the party that formed the KKK were known as the Dixiecrats not so many years ago. Until 40 years ago the Republican party was the party most minorities, including Martin Luther King Jr, voted for and this could well very well change again.

Perhaps you have a point, but the issue isn't just what benefits us as a movement. The issue is about what's right. It's not right to kill an unborn child, even one who may grow up to oppose you politically.

Unlike the liberals we don't make everything a political issue. That balck baby being aborted could be the man/woman who cures cancer just as much as it can be a white, Asian or Hispanic baby.
