My dad blames my mom for the dog?

Whenever my dog does something bad, my dad accuses my mom for it. Heres what I mean:
Recently my dad found the dog chewing up a plastic bag full of grease and he ate all the grease in it and it got all over the couch. He asked where it came from and my mom said it was in the trash can. My dad said to her "Why do you tempt him?" And now they had a heated argument about how my dad accused my mom of being the reason on why the dog ate the grease. Another thing is that he always sticks up for the dog, no matter what. To defend the dog he said "He s just an animal, he smelled a food source and went for it." And then my mom said how our other dog has never done such a thing which she hasn t btw and that our other dog is just stupid because he knows it s wrong. Also, our "good" dog is actually a a lot smarter than our "bad" dog and just gives him this look when hes tearing something up or getting yelled at like "you shouldn t have don t that."  My dad never punishes him and whenever he tells him no he says it like a baby and says "What did you do? Huhh? Nooo." And then pets him and my dogs happy. Then my mom gets pissed because he doesn t know how to punish the dog. So basically my dad always sticks up for the dog no matter what, just cant punish him and let s him do whatever he wants. Then my mom gets pissed. What should I do to let my dad know that he sucks at disciplining the dog? Don t say to talk to him about it either because I have and he just doesnt get it.

Yes, well what good will BLAME DO, if the dog DIES(from something it ingests (due to carelessness) or runs up a two THOUSAND dollar vet bill?  Let's say that Mom puts TURKEY bones in the trash can at Thanksgiving or Christmas.  She either forgets or says, well the OTHER dog KNEW better than to get in the trash.

IMO, it falls to YOU (and your Dad) to RIDE HERD on your mother and on the dog.  Knowing that your mother is CARELESS or CLUELESS about the dog (& its well being) and refuses to DOG PROOF the house, means you need to do so, on a REGULAR basis   and (IMO) you & your Dad OUGHT to get a kit from Lowes or Home Depot for a kitchen trash can wire rolling cart (fixture) that goes UNDER the sink. That way, the dog would be far LESS "tempted" to go after anything she tosses away.

I do NOT know, if you can institute any rules for your mom, like putting grease ONLY in sealed glass jars (like a Ragu spaghetti sauce jar)  But that would be safer for the dog.  My trash collection company won't allow grease to simply be put in a "BAG".  That's how you pollute the environment.

in the past I was careless a couple times and left a trash bag, tied, on the floor next to the front door meaning to take it out.  I forgot and left the house with the bag still on the floor.  upon returning I saw that the dogs tore open the bag and littered the floor with the remains of the dinner of the night before...chicken bones etc disgusting.

no way did I see the dogs as to blame,  this was not the dogs fault but mine.  if your dog has issues then remove the problem.....  if there is a small child in a home, arent the parents told to remove ALL troublesome items AWAY from the chlds reach?

The dog does NOT know it is wrong to raid te trash. The dog only knows that good tasting things can be found there. Anyone who leaves a box of goodies out where the dog can get to them would be foolish to expect the goodies to still be there when te dog got back. Anyone who leaves greasy plastic bags or other tasty, tempting treats in the trash, and leaves the trash where the dog can get to it, is at fault when the dog raids the trash and makes a mess.

The worst environment for a dog is one where there is tension and disagreement.This could actually make him have behavioural issues and could lead to aggression.I know it isn't your fault and hard and sad but it's about doing the right thing for the dog.Please rehome him or have a sit-down to try and make everyone on the same page.I dont like pointing fingers but your father is the main problem since he is encouraging the wrong behaviour
