The older I get, the more in favor I become of IQ tests as a requirement to vote.

When America was founded...The Democrats in some states did stop some other 'groups' from the universal suffrage...After Republicans shot enough disloyal Democrats in the 1860s...All people could vote...The Democrats put on the hoods to fight this for over 100 years....After some Blacks agreed to vote Democrat, in the 1960s, Democrats did remove the hoods, after some 'battles' between the police, blacks and a few Democrat mayors.

the educated part wasn't true. any male landowner could vote -- even if illiterate. One of the points of New England town meeting was that all business was done verbally, so there was no requirement that a voter be literate [or literate in English]

It has made society better overall, but that isn't to say that it hasn't gotten worse in some localized areas where a majority of the voters contribute nothing and demand everything.
