Was America founded as a Male Nation?

America was founded as a Democratic Republic. No more, no less. It was supposed to be the great cultural experiment of its time, a nation ruled by the will of the people through representitives chosen by them instead of though monarchs and aristocrats who imposed their will on their citizens by "divine right." It was also one of the first attempts in the world to recognize that people have inalliable rights that cannot be invalidated even by the opinion of the majority.
People will bring up the valid criticisms that surround our history: our racism, our sexism, slavery, our oppression of the Native Americans, our religious bigotry, the fact that our founders were all rich, white, male landowners and probably thought that their idealistic rights applied to only the same. This is all true, and it should not be down played or ignored, but a very crucial fact remains. Our Constitution is a living document, subject to change and able to evolve with the times. Our founding fathers, products of the Enlightenment that they were, recognized this and made sure that our fledgling nation would not be based on rigid dogma, but on flexible principles that would best serve the people as the need arose. Had they not, women would not be allowed to vote, and African Americans would still be considered 3/5ths of a human being.
This is not a Christian nation. This is not an atheist nation. This is not a male or female, gay or straight, black or white, us against them nation. This is a nation by the people and for the people. Our past does not define us, and our principles are not holy laws written in stone. We are not perfect, and shouldn't pretend to be. But we can always become better than we were. That is the source of our strength, and why we can continue to not only thrive, but also improve, even when we occasionally stumble.
Happy Independence Day, Deamstuff :)

You have to understand the time in which the Founding Fathers signed the Declaration. Back then women had no voice in anything, they could not share theirs opinions, their thoughts did not matter. Their was no way a women could've penned her name on the Declaration. Now women do have a voice and even though their are limitations set on us now (that surely won't last) if we were to make a new country women would have just as much part in it as the men. But America could not be a Male Nation seeing as this nation would not have survived without women, women played a key role in all the wars, keeps the population going (as we do for all countries), we keep the men on their feet everyday (seriously what would men do without women?), plus American women have contributed in medicine, inventions, and technology just as much if not more than men, Women keep the earth moving! Plus, let me tell you something; every single man who signed the Declaration was there on his wife's orders or his wife was contributing ideas of freedom for those men to write down and sign, and women were the power behind the throne for every president who has served office. So, no there is no way America could've been founded as a "Male Nation". (No matter what the men like to think.)

Could you ask a person who lived in a time before it was known that Lightning was a form of Electricity, and just after the world accepted that the world was round, to conform to your liberal thinking? Back then 1 out of 5 women died before getting to full term in a pregnancy. Of those that did survive, another 1 in 4 would have a very dangerous delivery, often killing either the mother, the child, or both. Wow, even the very basic medicine we take for granted did not exist till world wars 1 & 2. A Pregnant Human female by late in the 2 trimester is helpless without male protection under conditions like that... I could see the Mother of My Daughter chopping wood during a blizzard to keep from freezing to death...

I you go by who the founders were, they were male, since women didn't have political power.
But, if you use another one of the fundie's favorite lines of reasoning, it is a female nation since there are more females than males.

Interestingly enough, America's founding fathers didn't even think about anybody else's rights except for white males who owned property. After all, if they had thought about including the rights of minorities and women, wouldn't they have originally included their rights?

There is no specific designation in the early constitution either granting or denying voting rights for the nation as a whole. Voting rights at this time were decided by the states until the Nineteenth Amendment was ratified guaranteeing rights for women nationwide in 1919. But some states allowed women to vote as early as 1797.

Yes. All the founding fathers were males, therefore, it's a Male Nation.
It's also a White Nation.
