It is much more likely for an active duty Soldier to be deployed. Deployments are much more infrequent than 10 years ago. Active duty units can cover the deployment schedules. It is more expensive to mobilize Guard and Reserve units than active duty.

For Reserves or Guard, it really depends on the unit. Some support units are found in the Reserves rather than the Guard and they may be needed to fill specific gaps in capability. Postal units are one example.
