What would you do in this situation?

One of the mothers from my son’s playgroup recently switched her 11 month old son’s car seat to forward facing. The law in the state I live in is that babies must be rear-facing until 2 years old AND 30 pounds, but I don’t know if this mother knows this or not.

I have only known her for 3 months and she is a very young mother (only 17) and so not sure if I should say anything to her about it or not. I don’t want her to feel like I am lecturing her or anything, but I want her baby to be as safe as possible and I don’t want her to get in trouble with police over it either.

Any helpful advice is greatly appreciated.

That's a fvcking dumb law. Must be one of those Nazzi nanny-states...

A 30 pound child is absolutely huge. There's no way my kid could possibly face rear any more, and he's 22 pounds.

It's not really your business, anyway.

I'd jack off, as usual.

Reed had great advice.
She should also know that she will be charged with felony child endangerment if she is pulled over, or if the baby is hurt in a car accident.

Sadly many moms just think "mom knows best" with car seat use. Sometimes if she does not comply, a follow up call to police or child protective services is warranted.

I would ask her Is she checked the guidelines on the internet for your state. Say you are only
asking because you really care for the safety of her child, I can't imagine she would be offended.
