Did the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt keep cats as pets?
I know the Egyptians worshipped cats, but they did they keep them as pets? Or was that like insulting to their divine feline nature?

The Egyptians had cats they kept around food warehouses to keep down losses to pests, as well as temple cats and cats associated with the Pharaoh's household. Some were certainly well treated, but I'm not sure they fit our modern definition of pets.
