Hardtack the grain product or hardtack the candy? Both have a very long shelf-life. Hardtack the bread is pretty nasty. The candy is okay--just basically hard candy.

I have, my grandmother used to make it. Can't say I really loved it, but hey, you eat what you have to to get fed, right?

No, I haven't, but from what I read about it, no one would eat it if they had another choice. It's got to be easy to make. Flour, water, and salt. How much could go wrong?
