I have several of them and use them all the time whether or not the power is on.

Well, I do have an eleven inch cast iron skillet, but not just for power outages. For those, I use a generator. Cast iron is wonderful cookware if properly seasoned. I use mine on both an induction hot plate and on the stovetop. It's really easy to care for. Usually just heating it and deglazing it with water will clean it for the next use.

Why would a person need a cast iron skillet to cook outdoors? Any kind of skillet could be used. Yes, I have one. I also have some stainless steel ones which work perfectly well on a camp stove, a wood stove, or an open fire, or anything else you can cook on.
