Many wineries now offer 'sample sized' bottles, like airline sized bottles for sale in many liquor stores. I used to buy these when I tried to get interested in wines. Alas, I didn't get the hang of drinking wine, i Just cook with it now.

Yeah or gamble various brands and bottles. I never bought wine that I hated except for sweet red.
Try cheap wines to see the kind you like. Then also try expensive wines or med expensive like a 20 dollar bottle from italy.

If you wish to sample you only need a small amount.

If you purchase large bottles you do not get as many samples.

There is no rule on what wine goes with what food. It is what YOU like that counts.
