Is government going to far with lockdowns mandates ? Are there things government doesn't have the right to tell people?

The hospitals in California are over max.   We either do something to lower the number of new cases OR we just let people die outside the hospitals because the hospitals can not handle any more patients.  Pick one.

The goal from the beginning was to slow the spread. It was never about stopping it completely because stopping a virus from spreading is impossible. If it were possible, there would be no flu or common cold.

California was one of the first to shut down and is still mostly shut down with nothing to show for it. They’re approaching 2 million cases and hospitals are overwhelmed.

Here in Florida, it does have over a million cases but is mostly open and hospitals are not overwhelmed.

Democrats and the media are causing too much panic by trying to convince everyone that every single person that gets Covid will get seriously ill or die. Not even close.

Depends on the location. The lockdowns are meant to flatten the curve so that hospitals aren’t overwhelmed and care doesn’t become rationed leaving people to die.

Many states now are in trouble of that happening.

The Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution make it clear that there ARE things the government doesn't have the right to tell people.
The original shutdown was necessary and proper, because the disease was dangerous, we needed to slow the spread so that hospitals would not be overwhelmed, and we didn't really know very much about the new coronavirus.
Since then, we have learned a great deal about how the disease is spread, who is most likely to have serious illness or death, and how to treat it.  The situation is different now.  We ought to protect the people who are in danger of serious illness, while allowing those who will easily recover to go about their school or business.
Yes, the elderly and immune compromised CAN be protected without shutting everything down.
People will obey guidelines when they know the reason.  But people are rightly becoming skeptical of the reasons for the excessive government restrictions.

It should depend on how full your hospitals are?
Masks & lockdowns are designed to help the hospitals & medical staff keep up with the number of patients they're trying so desperately to save.
Nobody wants to die in the street, or even in the hospital parking lot.
