You need a Social Workers recommendation as to your character. Has your Solicitor suggested this. The courts look at what is best for the child, they deserve a family life which he/she is not able to get in your situation.

It would appear that if your ex girlfriend, the mother of the child, is "making you go to court now" it would be advisable to have legal representation.
