If the US president ordered the army to kill some senators or bomb an American city, what would they do?

Not that this would ever happen, but IF the president did order this, would the military be required to obey his commands? He is the Commander-in-Chief.

Their oath is not to an individual, not the president. It is to the U.S. Constitution. That would be an unlawful order on its face. Our military does not get involve in politics.

Service members have a duty and responsibility to not obey unlawful orders, and make an attempt to arrest the unlawful order giver.
Not always possible, enlisted can't arrest an officer, just detain them until a officer can be sent to the scene.

No-one in the military has to follow an illegal order.  It's as simple as that.

They do not have to obey unlawful,  immoral or unconstitutional orders.   In fact they are suppose to refuse them.
