In the US Army, can you switch your MOS after a period of time?

Let's say a soldier picked an indoor MOS like Paralegal and after a year or two wants to do something else.  Could that soldier switch to something completely different, like maybe artillery?

Usually only allowed as a reenlistment incentive or in cases of severe shortage in the new MOS

Maybe - maybe not.

Technically yes, but it can be quite difficult.  If there are shortages in the job you have, or overages in the one you want, it would be very difficult.

its possible, depends on what the manning level of your mos is and what the manning level of the mos you want to move to is

Short answer: maybe

Long answer: only if the MOS you are in is overmanned, the one you want is undermanned and your ASVAB scores qualify you for it
