What was the point in Trump undermining covid /telling people to not wear masks?
All he had to do was pretend to care about covid, not get covid, tell people to wear masks/socially distance, not hold superspreaders, show up the the 1st debate and he would of easily won.
In the end it cost him the presidency and Republicans the senate(due to the VP vote). It probably also costs thousands of lives. Was it some psychological thing?

Masks are a joke. If you think you need to be wearing one you have been duped. 99% of the people that have contracted COVID have survived.
The dollar is worth more than your lives. Closed businesses don't make money. People staying home don't get sick as often. Open businesses make money in spite of a multitude of people getting sick and dying..
A friend of mine made this observation - there's no point in asking about the reasoning of people who are irrational. If Trump had just said, "We have to open up the country, keep the businesses going and the economy strong - but of course we have to do common sense things like wear masks" he could have saved thousands of lives and maybe his job. Trump is mentally ill, as the psychiatrists have pointed out.
