Why would Christians want such a policy? Don't they believe that everything that happens is God's will and seeking payment is saying they don't trust God?

That depends. Most insurance companies don't pay out if their policy says something is an Act of God. However, there are companies that do. You just have to look around. "Go Compare"

"Acts of God" is a legal expression referring to things that humans can't control. It doesn't literally mean that God did it. Why are Christians so literal minded? Why can't they comprehend expressions?
