Which Internet browser is the best and why?

Question

Feel free to give assessments for various operating systems.  For instance, you may prefer Safari if using a Mac, but it is not available for PCs, so you would choose a different on for PCs.

I am using Firefox, because it has tabbed browsing, tighter security, many useful extensions, and .. I like  the fox symbol.

Internet Explorer has got the most functionality....

They say Firefox doesn't get spyware, but I had bad spyware last year and found the same group of websites added into my favorites on both browsers over and over, so that is just not true.

Same here about the Firefox. I used to have too many pop ups from hacking websites and since i got firefox i havent had any.

I'd say Firefox as it is open-source, conforms to standards, is available for all major platforms (Mac/Win/Linux) and has many customizations possible through add-ons.
