Why are people so self-centered?

Enough about you... Let's talk about me!

I believe all humans are inherently self-centred. Try asking someone to do something that won't be for their benefit.

Most will only agree to it if (and the below are only SOME reasons):

1. They have the time to, or if the activity fits into their schedule.

2. If it benefits them in some way.

Usually they'd grumble at the smallest things for good measure.

Think of your mom. When she nags at you, she's worried for you (all of us know that, but we get annoyed anyway). How many of you actually never snap or give your mom a grudging-given reply that sounds as if it's been dragged out of you?

The most important question, I believe, is "Why should I be the one to give way/compromise(etc)?"

Depends on the person...older people often get self centered, especially past age 70. People who were overindulged as kids will also be self-centered

its because most people, even if they don't notice it, tend to care for themselves more then others. If it's a life or death situation, people tend to think that if their last moment is good, they will feel better as they are dying, so they help others in that case.

if people only help others, then every person in the world would be in great peril. its human nature to help yourselves more then others

maybe some people are self centered because they always got what they wanted as children and think they should get what they want everytime and they probablly were told they were better than anyone or anything.

its safe, maybe they get hurt less, maybe they are naturally flawed and need God to really understand themselves and there purpose
