Cold Spring, NY. Right on the Hudson River, very quaint little town.

Well, let's make it three votes for Ouray, Colorado. It is absolutely beautiful there. And, while you're at it, drive over the "Golden Highway" so called because of the gold dust in the ground, to Silverton, or the other way to Durango.
Ah, reminds me of my childhood in the Colorado Rockies.

I had the pleasure of living in very historic town in the no.west corner of Illinois the town is Galena,approx.3,000 people live there it has the highest elev.in the state it is a pre civil war town on the Galena river.although it is a highly prized tourist area, it has the warmth, charm and feel of 18oos architecture.it is a wonderful place to raise children, art, music and history are very dominant. It is a town that the residents delight in living in. very safe place to live strong sense of pride & community.

Los Gatos, CA. Downtown is friendly, homes nearby have a Victorian look, and Vasona park has plenty of green grass to run around and a lake to feed the ducks.

omg!! i love ouray, too!! you should totally go there! i think almost all small towns are great... i would hate livin in a big city... my town is about 200,000... too big for me, but it's ok... i like the "small-town feel" though.
try the Bed and Breakfast in Forks, Washington... eat there; the restaurants suck there

I grew up in a small town, and everyone knew your business, made up or not. My opinion is small towns are awful.
