Would it be inappropriate to send an "I'm sorry" email to an ex, or would that just be opening a can of worms on 50 different levels?
I've been going through some stuff in storage this past weekend and I came across a note from an ex-girlfriend, from about 10 years ago. I'm married now (almost 8 years) as is my ex. But, we both still email each other for birthdays and holidays (our spouses both know about that). Only friends, nothing more.
Anyway, it was just a nice note from my ex and, upon reflection, I realize I was a pretty lousy person when we were dating.
Can any good come from emailing her and saying "sorry for being such a jerk back then", or would that be wrong/selfish/inappropriate/etc.?
2 AnswersSingles & Dating5 years agoWhat is wrong with Yahoo mail this morning?
It keeps saying my session has expired and I need to sign in again.
I closed the browser, opened it back up again, signed out of Yahoo and signed back in.
As soon as I go into Yahoo mail and try to click on an email, it again says my session has expired and I need to sign back in.
Yet somehow I am signed in and posting questions on Yahoo Answers, posting comments to Yahoo articles, etc.
What is wrong with Yahoo email?
5 AnswersOther - Yahoo Mail7 years agoGift suggestions for a couple's 40th birthday party?
My friend and his wife are having a joint birthday party to celebrate their both turning 40 this year.
Any suggestions for gift(s)?
Should I get one gift for her and one for him, or just one gift for the both of them?
I was thinking maybe a nice bottle of champagne or a nice bottle or two of wine, but couldn't think of anything beyond that.
The birthday party is going to be a catered affair, and they're financially well off, in case any of that info helps with a recommendation.
Thanks!
4 AnswersEtiquette8 years agoHow long should I plan to cook a 3.5 pound bone-in turkey breast at 8,000 ft. above sea level?
I've already read that I need to go by the internal temperature of the meat to determine if its ready (consensus seems to be 165F - 170F) and that the oven temp should be between 325F - 350F.
However, for planning purposes, about how long will it take to cook the 3.5 pound bone-in Turkey breast, when I am at 8,500 feet above sea level.
Thanks!
3 AnswersCooking & Recipes9 years agoDo I have to format a blank DVD+R?
I bought these Memorex DVD +R DVDs because that is the type of DVD specified by my HP laptop for creating recovery disks.
The first DVD was in the burner for the Preparing and Writing stage of creating the first recovery disk. When it came time for the Verification stage, I received a message that it failed.
So, I used a second DVD and the same thing happened.
I put both DVDs in a different computer (Lenovo laptop), and it will not let me write anything to either DVD. But, both DVDs appear blank to the computer.
Do I need to format the DVDs somehow? Or are the DVDs faulty?
I just took a 3rd (blank) DVD, put it into the Lenovo laptop, tried to copy a file to it, and it fails as well.
Written on the DVD drives of both computers is "DVD Multi Recorder".
I just took a 4th (blank) DVD, put it in the original (HP) laptop and it asked me if I wanted to use the DVD similar to a USB drive (being able to read/write data from it) or if I wanted to format it some other way (if I remember, something like an archive). I chose "as a USB drive" and it has been sitting here for at least 30 minutes with the status screen "Preparing to format".
HP Laptop has Windows 7 premium, the other computer I have been referring to is a Lenovo laptop with Windows XP Professional.
2 AnswersOther - Hardware9 years agoIn the 2012 US Presidential Election, who should I vote for?
Not an Obama vs. Romney question, so please don't respond with one or the other.
Working on the absentee ballot here and there are a surprising number of choices for President.
Should I:
a) vote for the candidate who appears to be most aligned with my values, but who has a snow ball's chance in "HE double hockey sticks" at actually winning the election?
or
b) vote for the candidate whose platform includes some positions aligned with my values and some positions which are contrary to my values, but who has an actual chance at winning the 2012 Presidential election?

4 AnswersBaseball9 years agoHow do I politely ask my wife to stop disturbing me when I am working from home?
I think my wife thinks just because I'm working from home, I'm not really working.
And when I ask her to email me whatever it is, she perceives it as me being grouchy.
I have enough of a struggle keeping myself focused on work as it is, so outside distractions and interruptions only make matters worse.
How do I help my wife to understand that, when I am sitting at my desk at home, in the middle of a normal work day, that its the same as me sitting in a professional office, and that its not a time to come over for a conversation and that its also not the time to call me about non-urgent matters?
9 AnswersEtiquette9 years agoDeath of aunt's ex-husband and condolences?
My cousins' father just passed away.
I called them to offer my condolences.
However, when my dad emailed me their phone numbers, he also sent my aunt's phone number.
I assume my dad is expecting me to call my aunt as well.
My aunt has not been in touch with the husband in the 30+ years since their divorce.
Prior to their divorce he was, to put it politely, heavy handed with her.
Heavy handed enough that my dad had to pull a Sonny Corleone / Carlo Rizzi "The Godfather I" beat down on the husband.
I haven't the faintest idea what I would say to my aunt regarding the passing of her ex.
3 AnswersOther - Family & Relationships10 years agoIs this safe to drink?
Rummaging around the basement and I came across a bottle of Sam Adams Triple Bock from 1995.
I went to open it and the cork sort of crumbled into pieces.
My wife is giving me dirty looks, but I poured it in a glass and am ready to drink.
To placate my wife, I agreed to turn to yahoo answers.
Should I drink it?
4 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits10 years agoI appealed an Answer that was reported, nothing happened?
I received an email that one of my answers was reported by the Yahoo community.
I clicked on the link to appeal (this was over 1 week ago).
I have not received a response, and when I click on the link to appeal the violation, it says "you have already appealed this decision".
How long will it take yahoo to get moving with the appeal / response?
Thanks.

And, could you recommend a "simple" recipe, as I am somewhere where I don't have access to many fancy/unusual ingredients.

5 AnswersCooking & Recipes10 years agoWhy would my dog have blood in her eye?
I was looking at my pug this morning and noticed there is some blood in one of her eyes, in the white part of the eye.
What could have caused there to be blood in her eye, and what can we do about it (we are trying to get in touch with the vet right now)? She does not seem to be in any pain or discomfort.
Also, yesterday we left her at the groomers. Could there be a connection?
2 AnswersDogs10 years agoIs there a way to prohibit meeting notice forwarding in Outlook?
Sometimes I would like to be able to prevent people I have invited to a meeting, via Outlook, from then passing that invite along to others. For some meetings, I need to keep the participant list small and focused.
Is there a way to prevent invitees from forwarding my invitation to others?
I'm using Outlook 2003.
Thanks.
1 AnswerSoftware10 years agoHow can we avoid our dog doing this in the future?
My wife and I just returned from a 12 day vacation.
Our 3 year old Pug Ginger was again with the same sitter she has been with on previous occasions.
Longest Ginger was with the sitter was about 10 nights, and this was in December/January.
This time, we went to pickup Ginger and she was very happy to see us.
Before we went into our home, I walked her and she peed and pooped.
So far so good.
When we got inside, she was sniffing the luggage that was on the floor, and which we were unpacking.
The whole evening, her tail was in this strange, straight out position (usually its curled up on her back).
Then, she took some of my wife's clothes out of one of the pieces of luggage and peed on it.
We scolded her and she knew she did wrong.
A few minutes later, she decided to pee on the couch.
Again we scolded her and I took her outside.
She peed a little outside.
A little while later, she peed on the floor in my home office, so again we yelled at her.
Then, a little while later, she peed on our bed.
I yelled at her and took her out again, where she peed and pooped some more.
The whole time, her tail was in that strange position I mentioned earlier.
We came back inside, and, a little while later, she again peed on our bed.
Finally, we went to bed as we always do, with Ginger in the bed with us.
There was no more peeing, and the next day she seemed to be back to normal again.
This all happened over a span of about 2 1/2 hours.
As background info, we did use the special spray to clean up after her.
We did change the blankets she peed on.
She never goes to the bathroom indoors and is very good about holding it if she is in the house for an extended amount of time.
Why so much peeing?
Do we fawn over our pug too much, and this was her way of letting us know how mad/sad she was at our being away?
How can we avoid a similar situation in the future?
Thanks!

I have a 6 hour layover in Houston this Sunday.
After I check my luggage for the 2nd leg of my trip, can I leave the airport (with my carry on bag) and head into Houston for a few hours?
I've never had this long of a layover, so I don't know what the policies are for leaving the airport.
Thanks!

2 AnswersPain & Pain Management1 decade agoWas the 4.7 High Output engine the only V8 offered in 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited?
The WJJeeps webpage http://www.wjjeeps.com/engine.htm seems to indicate the High Output version of the 4.7 Liter engine was Optional in the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited.
On the other hand, in the "Jeep 4x4 Performance Handbook" 2nd edition by Jim Allen, it states "The standard 4.7 liter debuted in 1999 and the HO in 2002. The HO was optional for 2002 and 2003 and standard from then on."
So, which is it? Was the HO version the only version of the 4.7l engine available in the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited?
