Can I leave the airport when I have a 6 hour layover?

6 hours is not a long layover. I would not recommend it. Remember you will have to still go back through security. Remember if you miss your flight, the airline will cancel your entire ticket and you will have to buy a new one.

I don't believe you are allowed to leave. You will be inside the main terminal and once you check in you are not allowed to leave because you are connecting a flight. If you are allowed to leave i would not recommend it because you can get stuck in traffic and what not and it will make you miss your plane. Just stay in the terminal and grab a bite to eat or something or walk around the airport and visit its shops, the time will go by fast trust me I had the same 6 hour wait but mine was in Washington Dulles Airport.

I would not recommend it. If you have drama outside the airport you could miss your flight then you really have a problem.........you shouldn't have to recheck your bag for your 2nd leg unless your in from an international destination.......no one will stop you from leaving the airport........but........I wouldn't............there's noting to see in Huston.......at least for the few hours you have....

You can, but.......You have to give yourself at least an hour to get anywhere, an hour to get back to the airport and you need to get there two hours before your flight leaves for all the damn security.

nope not worth it....where would you go? you need to be back 2-3 hours prior to your flight, go through security and it could take 10 to 45 min.

Yes, but you have check in and pass immigration again.It is not worthwhile.Remain in transit.
