In the 2012 US Presidential Election, who should I vote for?

Not an Obama vs. Romney question, so please don't respond with one or the other.

Working on the absentee ballot here and there are a surprising number of choices for President.

Should I:

a) vote for the candidate who appears to be most aligned with my values, but who has a snow ball's chance in "HE double hockey sticks" at actually winning the election?

or

b) vote for the candidate whose platform includes some positions aligned with my values and some positions which are contrary to my values, but who has an actual chance at winning the 2012 Presidential election?

    Vote your own values

One vote can count but on the other hand it is only one vote and voting your own values will be a vote for yourself .

Your vote is NOT wasted if you vote for one of them. It is wasted if you vote for someone you DON'T want just because your guys has no chance. 5 % off the vote for a third party ( most likely Gary Johnson ) would ensure they get more money the next time around. the better you do the better your chances are in the future. so a vote for a third party today is the firsts step to actually having a third party elected. Maybe in 2020 or even in 4 years if we are lucky

Sorry if you don't vote for one of them, your vote is wasted. As it is the electoral college that actually picks the president. And they have never picked someone in the last 50 years that wasn't from one of the 2 parties.
