What do you think the poor quality of written questions on YA says about American Culture?
I am assuming most questions come from the US. Tell me if you think I wrong. I'm also assuming people have computers with spell-checkers so it would not be difficult to get a question right. Could it be a cultural trait, that "I'm going to say it my way and you just better work it out".
Its not just a development of cyber-language, though that is bad enough '4 me', because people giving answers don't understand it. Okay its not only Americians doing this but the US culture is a major driving force in it.

In reference to this question on social standards, it is my
opinion that we only want the things that fill the emptiness
in our wretched lifestyles, because we no longer recognize
true inner happiness. We as americans have learned through
constant inadequate advertising techniques that we must
satisfy ourselves with things that we can purchase and not
what is given to us by nature or our GOD. If you do work with the public on a one on one situation it would definetly
open your eyes to the "my generation". I have been in a role of public servant across this country for the last 17 years and my heart is becoming very heavey with the lack of passion and forgiveness for each other. Take seems to be the order of the day. Probably not the answer you were looking for, but it helps to vent...

Yahoo Answers does not have a spell checker and who is going to open Word (or other word processor) and run spell check on their answer before submitting it. As I have said on many occasions, the Google Toolbar, http://toolbar.google.com/ has a spell checker so go download it and voila, the magic of spell check, besides the Google Toolbar is THE ONLY toolbar you need. People giving answers don't understand that "4 me" means for me, I understand it but I hate it. When people use IM language in questions or answers it just drives me nuts to no end but there isn't anything we can do about it. I also assume people doing that are the younger, less mature crowd.
If it bothers you, ignore the poor quality questions and let someone else deal with it, that's what I have started doing. The best thing you can do is ignore them.

I think, generally speaking, people don't feel the need to use proper grammar online. Mostly pure laziness or saving time. It doesn't bother me as long as I can still read the message normally.

It's sad that people don't use correct grammar or spelling, I mean, do these people talk like that? Do they misspell on resumes and applications? I ignore them, mostly because I'm not really sure of what they're saying!

Generally speaking, American culture is decaying. Blogs, IM, and "Netspeak" are pushing away proper spelling, grammar, and sentence mechanics. I really can't understand it.
